since you cant reply to forum announcements:
so let me get this straight.
1: the guides posted here are meant to be for everyone
2: someone reposts these on a forum for whatever reason
3: you BLOCK the original source, contradicting #1.
4: you did not even write most of the guides here, hotshotz did, yet you decide who is allowed to read and repost them?
That is the most stupid thing I've read all week.
I find my guides reposted in a lot of places (neoseeker for instance) and I dont give a shit. you know why? because those guides were meant to be read. the guides and translations are there to help people play the game, I don't give a rat' ass where they read it. the whole point of making something public is so that the public may access it.
you may treat this as a major objection because i think this whole thing is bullshit.

If you're going to be a bitch about it you shouldn't encourage us to speak our mind, "If anyone has any major objections, let me know.", why not just tell everyone to deal with it or get out, as that is clearly what you really wanted. complete and unquestioned obedience.

you know, you can just restrict guest access to that particular subforum, not the whole site.
you have a point, but why would anyone register for the information that's here WHEN THEY CAN'T EVEN BROWSE THE FORUM TO KNOW WHAT IT'S ABOUT AND WORTH THE TIME IT TAKES TO REGISTER. it's not fucking rocket science. I'd of neve register here if I hadn't already read all the shit here.
now if you dont want to hear any complaints, if you want me to deal with it or get out, just say so and I shall obey as the mindless sheep I am.
oh and remove that part from the announcement, we don't want any more petty arguments here do we?

i'd rather hear an intelligent complaint than PEOPLE CANT SEE IT UNLESS THEY REGISTER!!!!!!!! which is the entire point
if i restricted access to the subforum, i'd still have the same problem, as that's where the resources are which is what you're complaining about, that people can't see and waltz in here "wat itam is dis how does i make kuku sowrd"
i really fail to see how it's as big a problem as you're making out

In any case, let's not dwell on that any longer. Time to move on from intelligent complaints to constructive advice! I'm such a great you, surely you can tell.
It's been a while since I ran a proboards forum... here is how you restrict guests from accessing the guides:
admin > boards > modify board
here you pick either the "questions and answers" category or you do it for both forums, " Noobie Helpdesk" and "Cave of Wonder and Knowledge"
right below board name and description you will find the "View board" option with a drop-down list. change it from "everyone" to "registered members"
viola! guests can still read the less important things and get a feel for the community and decide if they wish to stay or not and your precious guides are safe from their prying, inquisitive and above all, malicious, eyes.
hell, you can even scroll down to the bottom and use the "create threads" and "reply to threads" drop down box to disable guest posting!
P.S
since you may not have fully realized the consequences of removing quick and easy access to your guides, posted here, where you want them, you actually promote the use of your guides on the other forum. You see, that is currently the only other place where the infidels can find them without registering. you shot yourself in the foot. but don't worry, I already gave you some band aid. I trust you know how to apply it to the wound?
